The neck has been reset and it plays nicely with a straight neck. This Lyon & Healy Washburn Oak parlor guitar, built in Chicago in the 1920s, is an example of the instruments available at that time. It is all original and in good condition. The body meassurements are similar to a Martin 0-18 guitar from the same time and the guitar is bigger than many other parlor-size Washburn guitars we had before. It has that cool vintage sound you are looking for. It reacts brilliantly when fingerpicking and sounds very good when flatpicking. This guitar is a joy to play … it has authentic mojo … you can feel it immediately. The neck is cedar with a light and quite comfortable V-profile. The top is made of spruce and the back and sides are made of mahogany. The company still produces guitars today and is one of the oldest and most traditional guitar maker company. Nevertheless, great importance was always attached to good woods and precise workmanship. Soon the company expanded and even the most elaborate guitar models were produced in series. At that time the guitars were completely handmade and produced in limited numbers.

Stella, Stella guitars were produced by the Oscar Schmidt Instrument Company in Jersey City. Types of guitars were used to play the old, rural blues, but the predominant instruments during the 1920's and 1930's were Stellas. I'd originally thought it was earlier due to its design style, but Regal only became a business in 1895 and their fingerprints (as far as the pre-Chicago, Indianapolis-located Regal is. The sound of a modern x-braced guitar is far away from the guitar sound you can hear on many Pre-WW II era blues recordings. It's branded 'Lakeside' - which was a Lyon & Healy name - and I'm now fairly certain that it was made by whatever firm that became Regal in the 1880s or 1890s.
